 History
The idea of Roshni Homes was conceived of by Mr. Anwar Dar an eminent businessman with humanitarian concerns and a philanthropist outlook Mr. Dar had a desire to help the unfortunate children of Pakistan. He longed to replace their cries with smiles by providing them with support and security. He shared his idea with his associates, all of whom pledged their full support to this noble cause and encouraged him to proceed. Everyone involved in the project exhibited complete devotion and dedication to the cause and despite many obstacles, they managed to succeed.
The team acquired approximately 6 Acres at Usman Park Gujranwala for the project. Garth Breaking Ceremony of Roshni Homes was performed by Haji Aziz ur Rehman (late), father of Mr. Mehfooz ur Rehman, Trustee, on 20th August, 2000. The project was formally inaugurated by Lt. Gen (Retd) Khalid Maqbool, HI (M), HI, Governor of the Punjab on 7th April, 2003. Following the commencement of the project a beautiful and state-of-the-art house for the care of orphans named Roshni Homes was constructed on this land. The name of Usman Park was subsequently changed to Roshni Park by the local Government. The first child arrived at Roshni Homes on 7th July, 2002.
This is the first step towards making a chain of Roshni Homes all over Pakistan. Roshni Homes provide love, security, sense of belonging and a basic family unit to the children. The "Light House" of Roshni will always guide the wandering ships of these destitute children to the shores of safety and happiness.
